Born in the Florida Keys… Coastal Source is the brainchild of the D’Ascanio brothers, Tony, Franco and Amedeo. Their company, D’Asign Source, designs and builds estate properties. With more than 50 years of experience the D’Ascanio brothers have had countless encounters with products boasting lifetime warranties and claiming to be rust-proof, marine quality and 100% corrosion resistant… yet deteriorated in the harsh, real-world environment. Often quickly.

The D’Ascanio brothers had to do better for their demanding clientele. Starting in the 1970′s they began to design and manufacture truly weather-proof outdoor speakers and audio systems. They experimented with exotic materials.  These experiments led to the design of new materials and technologies they continue to incorporate into the properties they build. Their goal? To produce the ultimate turn-key, low-maintenance home.

With superior construction techniques, incorporated into every D’Asign Source project, the focus shifted once again. Now, the D’Ascanios pushed to find exterior fixtures, hardware and accessories that would stand up to the increasingly harsh conditions in their coastal environment. At first it seemed there were an increasing number of companies designing products for the coastal market. But after thorough investigation, testing and real-world trials it was apparent that the vast majority of these companies only addressed coastal needs in a superficial way. In fact, many large manufacturers actually void their warranty if the item is within a few miles of a salt water coast. Due to these challenges, coastal contractors and homeowners often choose to buy a replacement product than deal with a manufacturer. The market simply does not work well for coastal residents who want to purchase quality products backed by a meaningful warranty. Not satisfied with industry standards, the brothers invested in staff and equipment to truly become the leader in coastal quality products for the home. Salt spray chambers were manufactured to replicate real world conditions. The chambers are capable of causing corrosion at an accelerated rate to allow rapid learning about materials and construction methods. Another important tool is the company’s X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) metal and alloy analyzer. This tool can test products instantly to identify their elemental makeup and grade at any time in the design and development process. It also provides a quick and easy way to verify the quality of finished products. After years of extensive research, design, building and testing the brothers finally had the technology and methodology necessary to produce a full line of truly coastal quality products. But how would they produce and distribute these exceptional products in a meaningful way?

Enter long time D’Asign Source clients, the Zimmermann family, who shared the D’Ascanios vision of bringing superior products to all  homeowners. Through their family business, Artcraft Promotional Products, the Zimmermanns had built world-class capabilities in domestic and overseas manufacturing, distribution, web and catalog sales. More importantly, they share the same family business ethics and passion for quality as do the D’Ascanios. The Zimmermanns were so excited to join the Coastal venture that they spearheaded new product lines for home maintenance, corrosion-resistant hardware and outdoor cooking to further enhance the outdoor environment.

2011 marks the year Coastal Source finally opens to the public. Our comprehensive line of products includes light fixtures, ceiling fans, door hardware, outdoor cooking and audio video entertainment components. These truly coastal quality products are available through dedicated specialty stores, on the web, and through catalogs. In the near future Coastal Source will offer consulting and certification programs for electricians, suppliers and contractors.
